Police stop truckload of illegal immigrants on S. Glen Ave.

When a Glenwood Springs Police officer stopped Ricardo Alvares-Real for failing to dim his headlights, it was clear there would be more than just a traffic ticket involved.

Real was one of eight people in the pickup truck cab.

Police discovered 13 Mexican illegal immigrants in Real's 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck just before midnight on Thursday on South Glen Avenue. Seven were crammed in the cab, and the rest hid beneath Real's camper shell....

The illegal immigrants were turned over to ICE. Wilson said Monday he didn't know the illegal immigrants' status.

Wilson said in recent years police have found illegal immigrants packed into vehicles similar to the Real case two to four times annually in Glenwood Springs.
