Non-deportation rate drops --- to 99.2 percent
That's a slight drop from the 99.5 percent approval rate reported last month.
Washington Times

The Homeland Security Department has granted legal status to 99.2 percent of all illegal immigrants [illegal aliens] who have applied under President Obama's new non-deportation policy for young adults, according to the latest numbers released Friday.

That's a slight drop from the 99.5 percent approval rate reported last month.   The policy, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, grants legal status to most illegal immigrants under the age of 31 who came to the U.S. before age 16 --- usually brought by their parents. They are allowed to remain in the U.S. without fear...

Officially recorded remittance flows to developing countries reached an estimated $401 billion in 2012, growing by 5.3 percent compared with 2011. Remittance flows are expected to grow at an average of 8.8 percent annual rate during 2013-2015 to about $515 billion in 2015. Employment conditions in the US, including for migrants are improving, as also reflected in the quota for H-1B visas being rapidly filled for fiscal year 2014. Political momentum behind immigration reform in the US is growing. Average remittance prices were broadly unchanged at just above 9 percent over...
Drug Cartels Running Command and Control Operations Out of North Texas
DEA says high-level cartel members now direct drug shipments from Dallas to cities all over the countr
NBC

"... Wherever they can fit in, they’ll move in, sometimes as normally as a normal family,” said Daniel R. Salter, the acting special agent in charge of the Dallas DEA office ...   One neighbor told NBC 5 Investigates he saw federal agents surround a neighbor’s home and then, a short time later, carry out bags full of cash.   The men that lived at the home were not your average street-level drug dealers.   The current residents of the house showed NBC 5 Investigates a crawlspace hidden in a back closet where the DEA said the cartel hid drugs and money.   According...
Immigration group reaches deal-Bipartisan agreement in the House follows a similar deal in the Senate on immigration reform
Boosts President Obama's chances on a major second-term priority.
MSN News

A bipartisan group of House members on Thursday announced a deal on sweeping immigration legislation, a breakthrough that could boost chances for one of President Barack Obama's top second-term priorities.

It came after months of secretive talks among the four Republican and four Democratic House members had seemed to stall in recent days even as an immigration bill in the Senate moved forward. The House members met for two hours Thursday evening, emerging to announce they had a deal.   "We have an agreement in principle. We're now going to work on finishing up the drafting of...
Controversies Doom Obama's Effort to Restore Faith in Government
Rasmussen Reports

It's impossible to predict the lasting impact of the controversies now besetting the Obama administration, but the risks to the president's agenda are sizable.

On the legislative front, they could doom the already cloudy prospects for comprehensive immigration reform [amnesty for illegal aliens]. The implementation of President Obama's health care law is also likely to be a bit more challenging. It's possible, too, that this week's controversies could provide a big boost for Republicans heading into the 2014 midterm elections...

Immigration Has Little Impact on U.S. Aging
New Census projections show small effect on working-age share of population
Center for Immigration Studies

The Census Bureau has released new projections which examine the impact of different levels of immigration on the United States. The projections, analyzed by the Center for Immigration Studies, show what demographers have long known: immigration has only a small impact on slowing the aging of America. Many promoters of the Gang of Eight immigration bill, which roughly doubles legal immigration, argue it’s needed to forestall aging, but the Bureau’s new projections show immigration’s impact is slight.

The Center’s Director of Research, Steven Camarota, observes, “Many worry that...

Marco Rubio's Coup d'Etat is America's Coup de Grace
Conservative HG

Read the Gang of Eight bill. It offers amnesty to from 15 to 20 million illegal aliens AND if passed will bring 30 million more foreigners here legally.

Within the space of a decade or so, 45-50 million foreigners would be added to America's population, mostly from poor countries in the Third World.

Then, these numbers would continue to rise further as the newly arrived immigrants start to bring their relatives to the U.S. through chain migration...

Independent study raises the bar for border security, immigration reform
The Washington Times

The yardstick used in the immigration bill to determine border control may produce too rosy a picture of how well the Border Patrol is doing in cracking down on illegal crossings, according to an independent study released Monday that threatens to upend the immigration debate.

In their 76-page report, three researchers at the Council on Foreign Relations also said the drop in illegal immigration is only partly a result of tougher border security and about two-thirds because of economic changes in Mexico and the U.S. that have made it less attractive for Mexicans to migrate north...

Managing Illegal Immigration to the United States
How Effective Is Enforcement?
Council on Foreign Relations

Overview

The authors examine U.S. efforts to prevent illegal immigration to the United States. Although the United States has witnessed a sharp drop in illegal border crossings in the past decade alongside an enormous increase in government activities to prevent illegal immigration, there remains little understanding of the role enforcement has played. Better data and analyses to assist lawmakers in crafting more successful policies and to support administration officials in implementing these policies are long overdue.

The Chilling Reality Of America’s Worsening Jobs Crisis
The National Memo

...more than a third of working-age Americans are either out of work or have given up on finding a job. Also, last month’s hiring increase was almost entirely for receptionists, waiters, clerks, temp workers, car-rental agents and other low-wage positions with no benefits or upwardly mobile possibilities. On the other hand, manufacturing — generally the source of good, middle-class jobs — did not add workers in April and has cut some 10,000 jobs in the last year.

Especially problematic was the continued rise in underemployment — people wanting full-time work, but having to take...
