Colorado Democrats target state Rep. Robert Ramirez's seat in HD29

The Westminster Republican won his first term in office two years ago ... giving Republicans the slim 33-32 majority they hold in the Colorado House.

In November, Ramirez faces Tracy Kraft-Tharp, a Democrat from Arvada. Democrats have vowed to retake the purple district in Jefferson County, one of several key seats they hope to flip to regain the state House.

... Ramirez ... cast a decisive vote against a bill that would have created a lower rate of tuition for illegal immigrants, who now must pay out-of-state rates. Latino groups lambasted Ramirez, the son of a Mexican immigrant. "(The vote) is brought up like I'm against Hispanics. That's not true at all," Ramirez said ...

Kraft-Tharp says she would have supported the bill, saying, "Every one of our children (aka 'Unauthorized Alien Students' - CRS Report for Congress)  should have the opportunity to achieve the American dream."
