Two Denver City Council members introduced a plan Wednesday morning to formalize the city’s policies on immigration enforcement ...

The proposal would:

• Instruct the Denver Sheriff Department to stop sending release notifications to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents when they have detainers for people living in the United States illegally.

• Prohibit employees, including police officers, from asking people about their immigration status.

• Ban the use of city money or resources to assist in civil immigration enforcement actions.

• Prohibit the Denver Sheriff Department from holding people beyond their sentences or otherwise legal release dates unless there is an arrest warrant...
