Die Already, Hungary
The recent election in Hungary created a seismic shock in Central Europe as the 16-year era of Fidesz and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was deposed and replaced with a new globalist-aligned government under Tisza and Péter Magyar. Our Hungarian correspondent László provides this analysis of the continuing aftershocks.

In the spring of 2026, Hungary stood at a precipice. As most readers of Gates of Vienna are probably aware, the recent general elections had resulted in a historic shift: the long-ruling Fidesz party, which had defined the nation’s political landscape for sixteen years, was defeated by the Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar (An ironic surname for the figurehead of shady foreign powers that are anything but Magyar, i.e. Hungarian).
On the surface, this has been a democratic triumph - a peaceful transfer of power promised to bring “peace” and “freedom” after years of polarization. Yet, beneath the celebratory veneer, a far more insidious process was already underway.
The true story of this transition is not one of liberation, but of a sophisticated, pre-meditated campaign of political warfare designed to dismantle the nation’s identity, fragment its society, and replace its sovereignty with a foreign-controlled narrative...
To understand the magnitude of what followed, one must first grasp the historical context. For the sixteen years of the Orbán era, while it was far from perfect, Hungary had been a battleground of competing visions. The “national” model, championed by Fidesz, emphasized sovereignty, traditional values, and a distinct Hungarian identity. This model had successfully maintained stability and economic growth, ranking Hungary among the freer nations in the world. However, it also faced relentless opposition from domestic and foreign actors, often intertwined, who sought to dismantle it.
The strategy against this “national” model was not a sudden assault but a slow, calculated campaign of demoralization. Over decades, a continuous stream of information warfare, economic pressure, and political maneuvering eroded the confidence of the “national” side...
And many youngsters brainwashed from birth by some version of the “woke” detergent have now reached voting age…
The Nation Targeted
Let’s describe the multi-layered attack:
1. Annihilation: The physical/digital infrastructure of the Viktor Orbán’s national government gets destroyed (leaked data, “exposed corruption” as a Narrative of Guilt).
2. Redefinition: The term “national” is stripped from the old guard (Fidesz) and applied to the new guard (Tisza).
3. Monopolization: The new guard becomes the sole owner of the “national” label, while silencing any dissent. Even though they are globalists, they sell themselves as “national” — they have been faking national sentiment in various ways (they are the RINOs of Hungary). Then they start owning the “truth” in general.
4. Result: The nation itself (as a pluralistic entity with diverse voices) is de facto annihilated as free speech gradually gets stifled. The “voice of the nation” becomes the voice of the monopoly...
The “honeymoon” phase is not just about ignorance; it’s about active social engineering.
The Process: The new regime is actively shaping society to accept the new reality.
Re-education: Through media, education, and public discourse.
Normalization: Making the new norms (suspicion, denunciation) seem natural and right.
Isolation: Isolating those who resist the new narrative...
The ultimate objective of this hybrid political warfare is of course not just a change of government. It is the annihilation of the Hungarian nation as an entity...
