The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a new study that roughly half a million women and girls now living in the United States are at risk of facing genital mutilation — or already have.

Some of these females are cut in the United States, while others are sent to overseas locations for the procedure.

But fact is: FGM is ongoing in the United States.

It’s not a remote thing.
