600,000 Spies
President Trump has proposed bringing in 600,000 Chinese university students. This is incredibly naive; it overlooks both national security consequences and displacement of American students from higher education.
In the 15 June 2025 American Thinker article, Two Trump blunders, Molly Slag writes:
President Donald Trump has one well-known and exploitable weakness: His inordinate love for the triumphal announcement that he has brokered a deal. This inordinate love has already spawned two terrible blunders that threaten us all, one actual and one potential.
The actual blunder is the welcoming of Chinese students into American Universities. This blunder stems from his failing to recognize that every Chinese student is a spy.
This is not to say that each and every Chinese student is actively engaged in spying at every moment. But it is the case that each and every Chinese student is legally obliged under Chinese law to undertake espionage whenever so directed by Chinese authorities. The Chinese law is found in sections 7 and 17 of the Chinese statute known as the “National Intelligence Law.”
And each and every one of these Chinese students has family back in China, rendering the student vulnerable to pressure arising from threats against the family.
Moreover, the presence inside the USA of secret Chinese “police stations” provides the organizational potential to harness this vulnerability to drive the student to espionage...
In the 29 May 2025 article Students or spies? How China infiltrated US universities, The Economic Times reports that:
... The number of Chinese students in the US, a Reuters report said, dropped to about 277,000 in 2024 from a high of around 370,000 in 2019, pulled lower by growing tension between the world's two biggest economies, heightened US government scrutiny of Chinese students, and the COVID-19 [China Virus] pandemic.
In the past decade or so, a large number of cases have come up in which Chinese students, researchers and professors were found to be spying for the Chinese government or were linked to the Chinese military, the People's Liberation Army (PLA). It is now commonly known that China has done pilferage of American technology and research at a huge scale to ramp up its industry and military. The US universities have become high-value targets in China's broader campaign of intellectual property theft and intelligence gathering. The academic environment—open, collaborative, and largely unguarded—has proven fertile ground for covert operations conducted under the cover of education and research...
Then FBI Director Christopher Wray had told a Senate hearing in 2018 that his agents across the country are seeing "non-traditional collectors (of intelligence), especially in the academic setting". "Every Chinese student who China sends here has to go through a party and government approval process," one senior US official had told Reuters at that time. "You may not be here for espionage purposes as traditionally defined, but no Chinese student who’s coming here is untethered from the state."...
One of the key instruments of infiltration by the Chinese state in American universities has been the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), which funds thousands of Chinese students to study abroad. Many of these scholarships come with ideological and political strings attached. Recipients are often required to report back to Chinese embassies, sign loyalty pledges, and in some cases, participate in intelligence-gathering efforts. These arrangements are rarely disclosed to US universities...

We should not let in 600,000 CHINESE students to attend American colleges and universities that may be loyal to the CCP.
If refusing to allow these Chinese students to attend our schools causes 15% of them to fail then these schools should fail anyways because they are being propped up by the CCP.
Why are we allowing 600,000 students from China to replace our American student’s opportunities?
We should never allow that...
