The farcical fallacy of face diapers (face muzzles)

It has frequently been observed that terror can rule absolutely only over people who are isolated against each other and that therefore one of the primary concerns of tyrannical government is to bring this isolation about. Isolation may be the beginning of terror; it certainly is its most fertile ground; it always is its result. This isolation is, as it were, pretotalitarian; its hallmark is impotence insofar as power always comes from people acting together, acting in concert; isolated people are powerless by definition.”

A multitude of cities and states are requiring their subjects to wear face diapers (face muzzles), purportedly to stop the spread of the China Covid virus. Interestingly, most of the diaper edicts have been issued by Democrat mayors and governors - as has been the case in Colorado.

Pourous, ineffective facemasks are the American Burka, signifying obedience to an increasingly totalitarian state. Masks hide facial expressions, turning people into anonymous automatons having limited interaction with fellow members of society.

It's time to say enough is enough.

Here are a few articles that expound on the point:

Face Masks Turn us Into Voiceless Submissives - And It’s Not Science Forcing us to Wear Them, It’s Politics, by Peter Hitchens, Daily Mail UK / Lew Rockwell, July 20, 2020:

In the name of Covid, the State has already thrust itself into every corner of our existence....

Now it presumes to tell us what to wear. And what it wants us to wear is a soggy cloth muzzle, a face-nappy that turns its wearer from a normal human into a mumbling, mouthless submissive....

Why is this frenzy taking place?

Here is a clue. On July 12, Deborah Cohen, the medical correspondent of BBC2’s Newsnight, revealed an astonishing thing. The World Health Organisation (WHO) had reversed its advice on face masks, from ‘don’t wear them’ to ‘do wear them’.

But the key fact was that it had not done so because of scientific information – the evidence had not backed the wearing of face coverings – but because of political lobbying.

She revealed on Twitter that: ‘We had been told by various sources [that the] WHO committee reviewing the evidence had not backed masks but they recommended them due to political lobbying.’ She said the BBC had then put this to the WHO, which did not deny it....

In March, the WHO had said: ‘There is currently no evidence that wearing a mask (whether medical or other types) by healthy persons in the wider community setting, including universal community masking, can protect them from infection with respiratory viruses, including Covid-19.’...

Earlier that same month, England’s chief medical officer, Chris Whitty, had said that wearing face masks would do little to combat the outbreak.

While noting that if someone was infected, they might reduce the danger of spreading the disease by covering their faces, Prof Whitty said wearing a face mask had almost no effect on reducing the risk of contracting the illness....

Why I Won’t This Time, by Eric Peters, Lew Rockwell, July 20, 2020:

It seems everywhere you go, Diapering is demanded as the price of being permitted to live. You are told you may not enter a grocery store to buy food – much less a restaurant to eat (though you are permitted to remove the Diaper once seated because this is submission theater, not a public health measure).

In some areas, people are pressured to Diaper everywhere, even outside. The purpose of this is severalfold.

First, obviously, to maintain a state of hysteria in the absence of any reason for it. Life would be largely going back to normal by now if the populace weren’t being terrorized by ululations about the “cases” – without any context, such as the Infection Fatality rate, which is about the same as that for ordinary flu (see the facts; chart is below). Almost all of the Undiapered aren’t dying – mostly because they’re still capable of walking . . . without a walker....

A Diapered face is an NPC face. The acronym is a video-game reference. A Non Playable Character. That is, something without any free will, a construct that acts according to its programming....

Diapering also demoralizes the Diapered, who is made to feel like a suppurating leper by being made to assume the costume of one....

Conclusive Proof — Masks Do Not Inhibit Viral Spread, by Joseph Mercola, Lew Rockwell, July 20, 2020:

... NONE of these well-designed studies that are intended to remove observational bias found a statistically significant advantage of wearing a mask versus not wearing a mask.

There’s No Scientific Support for Mask-Wearing...

Rancourt’s investigation into mask wearing was part of his research for the Ontario Civil Liberties Association....

That to me is a firm scientific conclusion: There is no evidence that masks are of any utility either preventing the aerosol particles from coming out or from going in. You’re not helping the people around you by wearing a mask, and you’re not helping yourself preventing the disease by wearing a mask.

To get around those [comorbidity] problems, you have to look at all-cause mortality. The reason for this is because all-cause mortality data are not affected by reporting bias....

Infectious respiratory diseases primarily spread via very fine aerosol particles that are in suspension in the air....

The aerosol particles stay in suspension when the absolute humidity is low. This is why influenza outbreaks occur during the winter. Once absolute humidity rises, the aerosol particles become unstable. They agglomerate, drop out of suspension and cease to be transmissible....

The mid-latitude band is where you find the dry weather and the temperature ideal for transmitting viral respiratory diseases. Viral infections typically spread during the winter in the northern hemisphere, and in the summer in the southern hemisphere....

Many firmly believe wearing a mask in public will protect themselves and/or others, and one of the reasons for this is because they appear to work in some circumstances, such as operating rooms. If they don’t work, why do surgical staff and many health care workers use them on a regular basis?

As explained by Rancourt, the reason surgical masks are worn in the operating room is to prevent spittle from accidentally falling into an open wound, which could lead to infection. Surgical masks have been shown to be important in that respect.

Preventing microbes and bacteria from falling into an open wound is very different from preventing the spread of viral particles, however. Not only are viruses much smaller than bacteria and many other microbes found in saliva, they are, again, airborne. They’re aerosolized and part of the fluid air. Therefore, if air can penetrate the mask, these aerosol particles can also get through....

... one commonsense explanation put forth by Rancourt is that masks don’t work for this application for the simple fact that they allow airflow:...

Rancourt also dismisses the argument that masks can reduce the total viral load by catching your spit. The theory is that by minimizing the viral load someone is exposed to, their chances of the infection taking hold are minimized....

Media Mask-Mania, Or COVID-19 Groupthink, by Tyler Durden, Zero Hedge, July 19, 2020:

I never thought I’d see the day when publicly wearing a muzzle would constitute a proof of virtue in the same country whose government, less than twenty years ago, rationalized the bloody invasion of Afghanistan as a way of saving women from veiling their faces....

But at least there’s one thing we can all be sure about: “mainstream” news media, busily cheerleading for the death of freedom, will continue to gush with absurdities, self-contradictions and victim-shaming memes in their propaganda war to Keep America Gagged...

Nor did anyone mention that just a few months ago, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention was explicitly advising against a general mask-wearing regime, as was Anthony Fauci, the High Priest of COVID19....

 Fauci told 60 Minutes that:

[t]here’s no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little better and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think it is. And often there are unintended consequences – people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.”

According to Gostin, the coronavirus has proved that “health system capacity alone is almost useless unless you have a government that can unleash that capacity promptly and consistently.” Obviously, we can’t do that if we have to bother with pesky constraints like representative government or the public will....

The last paragraph illustrates another contrived cunsequence of the mass mask mandates: erosion of the public will.

Media Malpractice on COVID Numbers, by Brian C. Joondeph, M.D., American Thinker, July 20, 2020:

Now that death counts are dropping to the point that they blend in with normal birth and death statistics, the media have predictably pivoted to case counts as their new hair-on-fire statistic to stoke fear, keep the economy shut down, and hopefully banish their nemesis back to the land of Mordor, also known as Mar-a-Lago....

Context includes what defines a positive COVID test. Is it an actual positive antigen test result or a presumed positive case? ...

Context also includes asking whether these individuals are symptomatic or not. We never test asymptomatic individuals or contacts of those with the seasonal flu. In fact, most with the flu treat it symptomatically until they get better, and do not get tested unless they are sick enough to journey to the hospital. Asymptomatic individuals exposed to someone with the flu certainly don’t get tested. Why then is there such a push for COVID testing? Unless the goal is inflated numbers to fuel a media narrative and damage President Trump....

Numerous labs in Florida are only reporting positive test results, not the negatives, giving the impression that everyone in the state is infected with the Wuhan virus.

Not coincidently, the Republican convention is planned for Jacksonville, Florida next month. If the Florida bureaucracy reports only positive cases and the media run with it, the media narrative will be that Florida is overwhelmed with the virus and the convention needs to be cancelled. And that it is unsafe for Dementia Joe to hold a rally or debate his electoral opponent....

The predetermined narrative is Orange Man Bad. Trump as president is an aberration, a fluke, something that must never happen again. Remember when David Plouffe, Barack Obama’s campaign manager tweeted, "It is not enough to simply beat Trump. He must be destroyed thoroughly. His kind must not rise again."

The media is molding news and history to their predetermined narrative that Trump must lose reelection on Nov. 3, regardless of the carnage to our economy, culture, and way of life in the process....

As the enigmatic Q recently asked, what would be the primary purpose of inflating COVID numbers? Who benefits? This is about the election, not the virus...

From Fort Benning to Japan and Hawaii, face masks are not working, by Daniel Horowitz, August 3, 2020.

MEDIA BLACKOUT: Thousands of Doctors and Scientists Have Come Out Against Fauci’s Lockdowns Including a Nobel Prize-Winning Biophysicist, Pamela Geller, July 15, 2020.

E-MASK-ulation: How we have been lied to so dramatically about masks, by Daniel Horowitz, The Blaze, September 10, 2020:

... before the big media push for universal masking, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued guidance for respiratory protection for workers exposed to people with the virus. It stated clearly what governments had said all along about other forms of airborne contamination, such as smoke inhalation — "Surgical masks and eye protection (e.g., face shields, goggles) were provided as an interim measure to protect against splashes and large droplets (note: surgical masks are not respirators and do not provide protection against aerosol-generating procedures)."...

In other words, they knew that because the virions of coronavirus are roughly 100 nanometers, 1/1000 the width of a hair and 1/30 the size of surgical mask filtrations (about 3.0 microns or 3,000 nanometers), surgical masks (not to mention cloth ones) do not help. This would explain why experience has shown that all of the places with universal mask orders in place for months, such as Japan, Hong Kong, Israel, France, Peru, Philippines, Hawaii, California, and Miami, failed to stave off the spread of the infection. Surgical masks could possibly stop large droplets from those coughing with very evident symptoms, but would not stop the flow of aerosolized airborne particles, certainly not from asymptomatic individuals....

The Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at Oxford also summarized six international studies which "showed that masks alone have no significant effect in interrupting the spread of ILI or influenza in the general population, nor in healthcare workers."...

Quebec's public health director Horacio Arruda told the Montreal Gazette that masks are counterproductive. Arruda's guidance as given in the article states that masks "get saturated with moisture from the mouth and nose after about 20 minutes. Once they're wet, they no longer form a barrier against viruses trying to come through or exit." ...

Dr. Jeffery Klausner, an infectious disease doctor at UCLA, described mask-wearing in early February as all psychological, not physiological. He told the Los Angeles Times that "fear spreads a lot faster than the virus" and that a mask only "makes you feel better." ...

In reality, these same desperate measures were tried in 1918, and even then, it was understood that they didn't work....

The diaper mask isn't about medicine, it's about politics. Controlling a subject's appearance is a significant first step toward constraining independent thought - and we can't have any of that as we approach the 2020 election.
